Flat Emma in Truckee

Flat Emma enjoying her time with her cousins at the Truckee Hotel, on Lake Tahoe in a boat and visiting the site of the 1960's Winter Olympic Games at Squaw Valley.

The fun continues with her cousin Aspen.
Flat Emma ends her visit back in Truckee.  This is called a round trip.

Flat James in Washington, D. C.

Flat James with his sister, Lily, at the Tidal Basin in Washington, D.C.  The Jefferson Memorial is in the background.  Flat James spent the day revisiting old museum and monument haunts from our family’s time living in the DC area.  Being flat made riding the Metro and hopping on and off tour buses a bit more challenging, however.

Flat James with the Washington Monument in the background.  From this view, Flat James looks pretty huge and you’d never guess that the Washington Monument stands at 555 feet tall.  Flat James visited such sights as the FDR Memorial and the American History Museum as well.  His flat legs were exhausted after so much walking!

Flat James in Corolla, North Carolina

Flat James by the Currituck Lighthouse which is located in Corolla, North Carolina (part of the Outer Banks).  It is a very historic lighthouse that opened in 1875 and stands 158 feet above sea level.  It used to use mineral oil as the source for its light but switched to electricity in 1933.  James’ mom went to high school with the current lighthouse keeper, so this beautiful lighthouse is always a favorite stop when we go to the Outer Banks.  Flat James climbed all the way to the top and took in the spectacular view but nearly blew away!
